SkillFlix for Autistic Young Adults
Autistic young adults often face a variety of sensitive communication and relationship challenges when interacting with friends, romantic partners, roommates, work colleagues, classmates, and more. They can find support and practical guidance navigating these challenges using SkillFlix for Autistic Young Adults (SkillFlix AYA).
SkillFlix AYA:
- A unique streaming video library of 150+ short Microskills videos (1-4 minutes in length) that supports communication skill building at different experience levels
- Explores real-life interactions and communication challenges that may arise at home, in relationships, with friends at school, or with co-workers on the job
- Offers helpful guidelines and strategies for dealing with these challenges constructively and sensitively
- Autistic young adults not only helped write the scripts for these videos but also helped direct and act in them as well!
- Meet in the Middle (opens in a new tab), an additional included resource, is a unique collection of videos designed to be shared and discussed with neurotypical friends, family, or colleagues on how they can all work together to improve their communication
SkillFlix patented training technology
Developed by dfusion, this proprietary video training platform teaches and reinforces effective skills through the use of short Microskills modeling videos. Microskills combine to create larger skills, and are searchable by topics, skills, or keywords.
SkillFlix AYA works. Several randomized controlled trials (the gold standard in studies) have shown SkillFlix to be effective in building complex skills related to sensitive communications and improving several markers of mental and emotional health.
